OBJECT OF GAME:

The object of the game is to run up as high
a score as possible while moving safely through
the playing area. You begin with a score of 0
and with 500 life points.

HOW TO PLAY:

Move the character using the arrow keys.
Try to avoid colliding with a monster or stepping
off the path or safe walkways--or onto thin covering.
(When you step off safe footing you are nagged by
a voice yelling "Get back to work!" You can die
pretty quickly this way; try it by moving off the
safe area near a score window, where you can watch
your life fade away!)
You are seeking opportunities to improve your
score, which you can do by answering questions
correctly, by slaying monsters, and by encountering
lucky objects (some of which also add to your life).
Click and double-click on objects to find out
what they can do for you or TO you! Some cause
questions to pop up (but some hurt you, too!).
For the most part, clicking is pretty safe.
You have both primitive and high-tech weapons:
a saw-blade (fired by pressing the Control key)
and a missle (fired by pressing F11).
When you are ready to quit, double-click the
character--and you'll exit through a page that
shows you your final score.
   HAVE A NICE WALK!

HINTS

1. Some creatures are harmful and some are harmless
or even beneficial. Just how harmful or beneficial
they are you will have to discover for yourself!
HARMFUL: big-eye, dinosaur, dragon, lion, mosquito,
         and troll.
HARMLESS: beagle, bi-plane, jack-in-the-box, kitty,
knight, mermaid, rhino, teddy bear, and
         whale.
DO NOT SHOOT HARMLESS CREATURES!

2. Shooting costs you a little each time. Be prudent.

3. Consult the program DISCOVERING ENGLISH to learn
answers to questions that give you trouble. (Learning
is the main point here, after all.)

4. You can speed up opening and closing screens by
clicking on the words "Chatfield Software."

5. You don't need any more hints.
